Can we have playoffs please?

January 4th, 2009

Why do we not have playoffs in college football yet? This is ridiculous. Even the announcers talk about hypothetical situations “if there was a playoff”. We are stuck watching two teams battle it out for a title to a bowl that really doesn’t mean much except they won. Now I realize that the BCS added the National Championship Game, but really, who should be in that game…especially this year.

I realize there are quite a few 1 game loss teams, and a couple undefeated teams, but it should be about who is playing the best ball at the end of the season, like the pros. I realize that USC lost to Oregon State, and at the time, they were an unranked team. BUT, now that the Pac10 has shown they are one of the best conferences in the nation, how does that loss to Oregon State look now? The way USC beat up on Penn State, it would appear they could beat anyone, but we’ll never know.

I look forward to watching these games, but you can only take them for what they are…just another game. It would make watching the National Championship Game much more worthwhile knowing that those two teams were actually the best teams. Anyway, that’s my rant.

Welcome to Trulium’s Marketing Blog

December 21st, 2008

Thanks for reading Trulium’s first blog post. Let me first start out by telling you a bit about Curtis Armijo's BlogTrulium and our philosophy. Very simply, Trulium builds successful, appropriate and effective websites and helps them get top search engine rankings by means of organic search engine optimization and manages their paid placement campaigns.

Our philosophy is to first start by immersing ourselves in our customer’s business and understanding what they sell, their business model, their audience, their competition, business climate, competitive advantage and their organization. Understanding this information helps to build a solid foundation for the website and SEO campaign.

The first part, and most important we believe, is to develop information architecture that will set the stage for the success of the website. Out of this information architecture we can achieve an appropriate wireframe and recommend the sitemap. With all of this information in hand, we can then have our designers create an appropriate and creative design for the audience.

While design is very important and definitely impacts the first impression, ultimately it is the information and layout that will leave a good taste in the user’s mouth from that point on. Design is like a smell in the room; it is obvious in the beginning and then you get used to it and is not a factor after that. So then it is all about information architecture and navigation.

The reason why I am writing a blog is to interact with people on interesting topics…basically, I

like talking and I feel like I have lot’s to say, which hopefully will be interesting and informative. I may not be shy about topics and I definitely am not afraid to tell you my opinion. I write to inspire and instigate, not dominate and intimidate. I think there is nothing better than intelligent banter…it can be very energetic and satisfying.

Typically, most of my posts are about business and industry related topics, but they can always involve human nature or even politics. I encourage differing opinions and will always applaude them, as long as you have them. I am a bit of a smart-ass, so don’t get too affended and feel free to dish it out…but please be respectful and intelligent. There is nothing better than intelligent banter on meaningful topics.
